Lone Star: Quinonez misses finale

Jockey Luis Quinonez, who was named to ride Mae B Today in the season finale at Lone Star Park, took off the mount due to heat-related sickness, according to officials. It was 100 degrees in Grand Prairie on Sunday. Tony McNeil picked up the ride on the odds-on Mae B Today, and guided him to a front-running victory for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Earlier on the card, Quinonez won the first race with Primal Touch ($11.20) and the sixth with Grand Opry ($16.40).
