Lone Star: Juveniles in turf route

Lone Star Park is running six turf races on its final card of the meet Sunday and the upcoming fourth features 2-year-olds at two turns. They will be traveling seven and a half furlongs on the grass. The race figures to produce starters for some future turf route stakes in the region, like the Sunny's Halo and Sundy Silence at Louisiana Downs, and the El Joven at Retama Park.

On a few pedigree points for the fourth race, DOUBLE BIRDIE is by Birdstone, who is getting just 2 percent winners from his first-time turf starters from a limited sample but who is a nice stamina influence for this afternoon's two-turn trip. COWTOWN PANTHER is a half-brother to two-time turf winner Catamount. EASTON JACK is by a stallion who is getting 11 percent winners from his first-time turfers, while his Grade 2-placed dam was 4-for-8 on the grass. QUIET ACCELARATION is a half-brother to Meaux Speed, who was stakes-placed in a turf route at 2.

There are no scratches in the fourth, but in the fifth race take out No. 6, Fullthrottlecruisn. And in the featured eighth, scratch No. 7, Nice Lookin, and No. 11, Naevus Girl. Also, make the rider on No. 1, Royal Encounter, Jose Figueroa. Royal Encounter is coupled with Majestic Vintage, who will be ridden by Tony McNeil.
