Lone Star: An early favorite for the Razorback Futurity?

Simply Scandalous established himself as the early favorite for the $50,000 Razorback Futurity this fall at Louisiana Downs when he won his maiden with something in reserve in Friday night's second race at Lone Star Park.

The Razorback, which is restricted to 2-year-olds bred in Arkansas, is to be run Sept. 24. Simply Scandalous is a full brother to Rita Katrina, a past winner of the Lady Razorback Futurity at Louisiana Downs. Both horses are by Storm and a Half, the leading general sire last year in Arkansas, and from the mare False Rumor.

Simply Scandalous rallied in the stretch to catch pacesetter Toolbox on Friday night, while covering five furlongs in 59.53 seconds. The race was a $15,000 maiden claimer, and Simply Scandalous was claimed by E L A Racing and trainer Ronnie Cravens.
