Lone Star: Double for well-bred stallion

Special Rate, a son of Pulpit who is a half-brother to Grade 1 winners Sightseek and Tates Creek, has had two maiden winners from the first three races on the card tonight at Lone Star. In the first, Special Tree ($4.60) romped in a maiden special weight for Texas-breds. He is 3.

The third race was for 2-year-olds bred in Texas, and Swass Like Me overcame a wide post to win the four and a half furlong race for fun. He paid $2.80.
