Lone Star: Coyote Legend makes amends

Coyote Legend, who finished second as the favorite in the $50,000 Premiere opening night at Lone Star Park, made amends Saturday in the featured fifth race. He won the seven and a half furlong allowance for Texas-breds by about a half length, and paid $5.20.

Coyote Legend false broke prior to the start of the Premiere, but things were less eventful for him Saturday. He broke fine, settled just off the pace and covered the distance on firm turf in 1:29.32. Jockey Chris Landeros was aboard for Clarence Scharbauer Jr. and trainer Bret Calhoun.

Lone Star refunded trifecta bets in the race after the scratch of Aces N Kings made for a field of four Saturday.
