Lone Star: Calhoun juvenile wins by 12

Trainer Bret Calhoun, who swept both divisions of the Texas Thoroughbred Association Sales Futurity last weekend at Lone Star Park, sent out an impressive debut winner in the fourth race. Canigotoo ($6) broke like a shot, quickly separated himself from his rivals, and won off by 12 and a quarter lengths. He covered five furlongs in 58 seconds, while ridden to victory by Cliff Berry.

Last week, Calhoun had three 2-year-old winners that cracked their division's top 10 in Beyer Figure rankings. Shocktime put up the fifth best Beyer for a 2-year-old so far this year, when she won the fillies division of the TTA with an 83.  The number is the current top Beyer for a 2-year-old filly in 2011.

Worthington, a maiden winner for Calhoun, also earned an 83 last week at Lone Star, while Lil Cherokee, who took the colts and geldings division of the TTA, earned a Beyer of 80.
