Lone Star: Breakthrough Win

Coahila won his maiden in his 27th start in the third race. He paid $10.20. Coahila dueled four wide early in the $7,500 maiden claiming sprint, then swept to the lead in the stretch. He maintained a clear advantage to the wire, and it was nice to see him experience winning, and winning with a little dominance.

Coahila came into the race off a fourth-place finish in a maiden special weight race at Manor Downs near Austin. He had run nine seconds and four thirds leading up to his start Sunday. From the pressbox, he appeared to be wearing a nasal strip, but not sure if it was his first time in the equipment. Coahila is a 5-year-old by Tinners Way.
