Keeneland: Toteboard value in the Blue Grass

Say what you might abt the BG Stakes being a marginal Ky Derby prep, but one thing it's not: a bad betting race. With 20 MTP, Santiva is the 5-2 choice in the field of 12 3yos, with Crimson China 4-1 and all sorts of wagering value beyond that. The longest shot at 24-1 is Praetereo, one of the 3 TAPletcher runners in the field, but otherwise, all the others range from 7-1 to 20-1. To paraphrase my old friend Clem Florio, if you catch the superfecta on this one, they should pay you double.

The BG ends an all-stakes pick 4, which started with Pletcher and J.Velazquez winning the Shakertown with Stratford Hill (6-1) and the Commonwealth with Aikenite (6-5). The G2 Jenny Wiley just went to Never Retreat (7-1, S.Bridgmohan), trained by C.Block.
