Keeneland: Opening day is here

More than 4 months since the so-called big-timers of the Ky circuit departed for warmer climes, the spring meet at Kee gets under way today with a 1:15 ET first post. The skies are cloudy, and the weatherman is saying we might have some rain at some point today. No worries, however, what with Polytrack as the main racing surface here since the fall of '06.

Lots going on here, of course, but we'll have time to get into all that as this 15-day meet progresses. As for today, not a whole lot of early program changes, although it should be noted that the would-be R.Attfield comebacker, Stormy Rush (#1), is out of the featured Transy Stakes (race 9).

Worth noting that the 50-cent pick 5 (races 6-10), which has proved so popular at GP, replaces the $2 pick 6 at this meet.

Fast Poly, firm turf, an upstretch wind currently blowing at abt 17 mph. Good luck today and throughout the meet.
