Keeneland: Opener: 6-horse field, $5k super

It's not often that a 6-horse field produces a $2 superfecta that pays more than $5,000, but that's what happened on the BG Day opener when the 2 favorites made up the "Last-xacta," with odds-on Escort finishing fifth and Ghost Is Clear (5-2 second choice) barely getting out of a gallop when trailing throughout in the six-furlong alw race. The gate-to-wire winner was Getaway Guy ($15, J.Leparoux), with 29-1 St. Ivan second. The $2 super (2-1-4-3) paid $5,011.60.

The first of 4 straight stakes today comes with race 6, the Shakertown (yielding turf), kicking off a $250k pick 4 pool guaranteed by TVG.
