Keeneland: early results Saturday

A couple of mild upsets, but otherwise formful racing, have transpired during the early results on closing day of the Keeneland fall meet.

In the opener, Hitch Your Wagon (5-1, J.Theriot) topped a $2 tri that came back more than $4,200 and a dime super that returned more than $1,500 when she outran a trio of longshots while odds-on Letters for Lunch failed to hit the board. The 2nd race went to a loose-on-the-lead Truly Lucky (7-2, S.Bridgmohan), giving trainer Michelle Lovell her 3rd win of a meet that clearly has been a success.

In the 3rd, Eric's Kitten (9-2, R.Albarado) prevailed as part of a Ken Ramsey entry when rallying from off the pace, and then Ramsey and Mike Maker came right back to win the 4th with the ever-popular warrior, Inca King ($3.60, J.Leparoux), who swooped to an open lead leaving the quarter pole to prevail.

A couple of key scratches to report later in the card: From the 6th race, both Haka (#5) and the program fave, Romacaca (#7, 7-5) have been scratched.

A reminder that there are mandatory jackpot payoffs today in the $2 pick six (races 5-10) and the $1 super high five (race 10).

There are 13 MTP for the 5th, a MSW seven-furlong Poly race, and Chardonniere (#4) is a 2-1 fave in a full field of 12.
