Keeneland: Awesome Act 9th

Awesome Act, the 2010 Gotham winner making his first start since getting beat 61 lengths in the Ky Derby, finished a no-threat 9th as the 2-1 fave in a field of 11 older turf horses in the 8th-race alw feature today at Kee. The race was won by 22-1 shot Joshua Reynolds, giving R.Albarado his 2nd win of the card and marking the 3rd straight victory for the R.Nicks-trained colt. Colonialism, prominent throughout, was 2nd.

Two races earlier, trainer K.McPeek and jockey A.Garcia combined for their third winner of the day with Sassy's Dream, who prevailed as a 5-1 chance in an off-the-turf 1x alw for 3yo fillies. Thru almost 4 cards, McPeek now has won a meet-leading 7 races, while Garcia is vying for the lead atop the jockey standings with J.Leparoux and J.Castellano.

We've got the G1 Madison here tomorrow, and the field is set for the meet showcase, the G1 BG Stakes, on Saturday. Lots to talk about in the coming days. See you tomorrow, when first post is 1:15 ET.
