Kee: those weather guys; Sat. scratches

All week those weather dudes were calling for perfect weather here at Kee for Fri. and Sat., with the chance of rain sneaking in by Sunday. Well, it rained here this morning, and the infield flags are whipping around pretty good, and the high temp will only get to about 70, although it doesn't appear there was enough moisture to keep the turf from remaining firm. Oh well. It seems those weather guys are almost as bad at predicting the future as some of us handicappers . . .

A terrific day all around here yesterday when nearly 25,000 folks mobbed the joint. Guessing that maybe 30,000 will turn out today despite the not-as-good weather. Yesterday was a good opening day for jocks J.Leparoux and K.Desormeaux and trainer K.McLaughlin, all of whom notched doubles.

A terrific and competitive renewal of the G1 Ashland S. (race 9) here today, with She Be Wild a tepid 3-1 fave over Evening Jewel (7-2), Beautician (4-1), Apple Charlotte (4-1), and Negligee (5-1). Don't know if she's good enough, but might want to look out for the Shug-trained Protesting at 12-1. The Ashland goes at 5:20 ET.

Here are the changes for the Sat. card as of 11 a.m.:

Race 3 - SCR #2 Jack in the Cat

Race 4 - SCR #6 Miss Ziggy

Race 7 - SCR #10 Hearted

Race 8 - SCR #2 Vacation and SCR #6 Cherokee Triangle

Race 10 - SCR #8 Academy Run and SCR #13 D'wildcard; #14 Vanontherun goes with O.Mojica riding

Good luck today. No racing tomorrow, with action resuming Wednesday.
