Kee: Leparoux, chalk dominating thru 6

Email

Julien Leparoux has won half of the 6 races run so far here Saturday, where a huge ontrack crowd probably has just about peaked as some will soon be leaving to tailgate at the nearby Ky-Ga football game. Leparoux, who appears well on his way to his 5th Kee riding title, scored aboard Dee's Rose ($4.20) in the 1st, Dark Cove ($5.60) in the 4th, and Sudden War ($5.80) in the 5th.

Even more dominant than Leparoux have been wagering favorites: 4 of 6 have won, with a 9-5 second choice (Dark Cove) thrown in for good measure. The only non-chalker was Flyingwiththebeat at 7-1 in the 2nd.

There's talk that the winner of the sixth, Animal Kingdom ($3.40), might turn out to be something for Team Valor and trainer W.Catalano. The Leroidesanimaux colt showed far more speed than in his AP bow when easily winning the 6th under R.Albarado.

There are 24 MTP for the 7th, a turf-sprint alw for fillies and mares, and Bella Moneta (#8) is the early 2-1 fave in a field of 10.

The G2 Raven Run is the featured 9th today.
