Kee: catching up . . .

The wind has weakened somewhat over the last couple of hours while the sun came bursting through, but the so-so weather from earlier in the day appears to have limited the crowd to a little less than the nearly 25,000 we had here yesterday. The G1 Ashland is coming up next, and with 15 MTP, Negligee is the lukewarm 5-2 favorite in the field of 8 3yo fillies despite making her first start since the BC Juv. Fillies.

In earlier action, R.Albarado capped a sweep of the early p3 ($84 for $1) when Maestro Miss ($5.40) took the 3rd for K.McPeek. In the 5th, Bushwacked ($3) for Hall of Famer J.Sheppard proved a very popular favorite when edging clear in a full field of MSW 3yos, and in the 7th, Much Rejoicing ($8.60) stayed unbeaten in 2 starts for NY trainer Jimmy Toner when posting an entry-level alw. victory by 3 1/2 lengths under A.Garcia.

In the race before the Ashland, a tough classified alw., Successful Mission (2-1, K.Desormeaux, W.Mott) shook off Bold Start and narrowly held off everyone's hunch bet, Tiger Woodman (13-1), for his 3rd straight victory.
