Kee: all speed in early p3 Thurs.

Email

Don't know exactly what it means, since none of the races were at more standard sprint distances like 6 or 7 furlongs, but speed won the first 3 races here, all on the Poly, much to the delight of jock M.Mena. It was Mena who got Smarten Destiny ($6.60) to the front to win the opener, and it was Mena who got Ice Mist ($8.80) to the front to win the 3rd. Both were 2-turn races.

In the 2nd, an Aiken Trials winner for Dogwood Stable, Firepole ($6.40), gamely held off a well-meant W.Ward 2yo firster, Madman Diaries, to prevail at the Headley Course distance of 4.5 furlongs. The winner was ridden by J.Castellano for the former T.Pletcher asst. G.Weaver.

There are 20 MTP for the 4th, and Four Paws (#6) is the 8-5 fave over Cat Hop (#5) in a $10k Poly route for older fillies and mares.
