Kee: 55-1 winner in Wed. opener

It was bombs away in the Wed. opener when Sir Smart ($112.20) won like a 3-5 shot, opening up on the backstretch and never being threatened in defeating 7 other mdn.-claimers going 6 panels for jockey R.MojicaJr. and trainer Ed Frederick. Pralltown, a firster for A.Garcia and K.McLaughlin, opened at 3-5 drifted to 2-1, then was hammered to even-money before showing chaser's speed and packing it in before the quarter pole.

"Welcome to the Polytrack at Keeneland," one unidentified fan was heard to shout shortly after the horses crossed the wire. Indeed, speed can win here, but so can a dead closer . . . tough pickin's.

There are 11 MTP for the 2nd race, and with the Nos. 1 and 2 both scratched, Ennis (#5) is the 9-5 fave in a field of 6 $20k claimers.
