Hollywood: A tough day for Seb

Sebastian Flyte was an unlucky second in Sunday's Grade 1 Hollywood Derby.

Sent off as the 7-5 favorite, Sebastian Flyte did not have a clean trip and was beaten a neck by Haimish Hy, who rallied wide through the stretch to pull an 11-1 upset in the final strides.

Sebastian Flyte raced on the rail on the backstretch and was in traffic behind pacesetter Blue Panis turning for home. Jockey Joel Rosario got a strong response from Sebastian Flyte in the stretch to reach contention but then suffered a bump from both Juniper Pass and Citrus Kid near the eighth pole. Despite that Sebastian Flyte took the lead, but was caught late.

"Lovely," was all trainer Ben Cecil chose to say after the race.

Joel Rosario said, "The outside horse kept coming in and bumped me pretty hard. For a couple of strides, I had to stop riding. I think we could have won."
