Hollywood: Talamo's cautious ride

Email

Rathman, the 8-5 favorite in Friday's sixth race, finished seventh in a field of eight.

After the race, jockey Joe Talamo told track stewards that Rathman "did not feel good" while running on his right lead in the stretch. Turning for home, Rathman was several lengths off the pace. Talamo did not urge the 3-year-old gelding in the final furlong and was beaten 13 1-2 lengths by race winner Elusive Moment ($12.60).

Talamo also told the stewards that Rathman "warmed up fine."  Rathman was bumped by Southern Victory shortly after the start of the race over 6 1-2 furlongs for $10,500 to $12,500 claimers who have not won twice.
