Hollywood: Stewards scratch filly unprepared at start

Bets on Chokecherrymary, an 8-1 shot, were refunded after the stewards conducted an inquiry and ruled that the filly was not ready for the start of Saturday's 10th race over 6 1-2 furlongs. After a review, the stewards ruled that Chokecherrymary was a non-starter.

An assistant starter was guiding Chokecherrymary into the gate when the gates for the other 12 fillies and mares opened and the race began. The assistant starter quickly got out of the way, but as the field ran down the backstretch Chokecherrymary was taken out of the back of the gate, which were never closed behind the filly.

The race was won by Sparkling Style ($19.20), who pulled clear through the stretch to win by 6 1-2 lengths.

Sparkling Style's win has triggered a carryover of $25,645 in Sunday's 50-cent super high five, which is conducted on the last race.

There was one winning ticket in the pick six, which was worth $100,746.
