Hollywood: A shocker from 'Romance'

Email

Hidden Romance, the second-longest shot in a field of 10, pulled a shock upset in Sunday's fifth race, paying $138.80.

Hidden Romance finished a head in front of Gotham Spirit in the sprint over 5 1-2 furlongs for $8,000 claimers. Hidden Romance had finished eighth in an $8,000 claimer on June 25. She was trainer Steve Knapp's third winner of the meeting.

There were three claims, though none of the purchased horses figured in the finish. Shawklit Sunday, the 4-5 favorite, was claimed in a two-way shake by Librado Boracio. Shawklit Sundae finished fifth. Afleet Sara, who finished seventh, was claimed by Paul Aguirre, while Guilded Reward, who finished eighth, was claimed by Dean Greenman.

There is no chance for a pick six carryover. Because Sunday is the final day of the spring-summer meeting, the pick six will be distributed to ticketholders with six winners, or ticketholders with five of six winners.
