Hollywood: Shock win in 1st

Mavicsa, the longest shot in the field at 38-1, galloped away from six rivals to win Sunday's first race for maiden claimers in a shock upset.

Ridden by Christian Santiago Reyes, Mavicsa ($79.20) led throughout the race over six furlongs, winning by 5 1-4 lengths over Judy's My Angel in 1:11.82. Brooklyn Rose, the 8-5 favorite, finished third. The first race was a $65,000 to $75,000 claimer for maidens.

Mavicsa is trained by Librado Barocio, and was his first winner of 2011 from 13 starters. Mavicsa, a filly by Ocean Terrace, was fifth in her career debut after a slow start here on April 22.

Mavicsa's win is almost certain to produce a hefty payoff, and possibly a carryover, in the 50-cent pick 5. Sunday's pool was $178,731.
