Hollywood: Riveting Reason rolls

Riveting Reason had little difficulty in beating four rivals in Thursday's first race for maidens, the colt's first start since an eighth-place finish in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Churchill Downs on Nov. 6.

In Saturday's race, Riveting Reason's sixth start, jockey Victor Espinoza had the colt behind the leaders, took the lead on the turn and finished 2 3-4 lengths in front of Wegner. Riveting Reason ($2.60) ran 1 1-16 miles in 1:45.01.

Earlier this year, Riveting Reason was third in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity and Grade 1 Norfolk Stakes.

With that race record against maidens, Riveting Reason was the subject of a massive show bet, attracting $134,103 of the $147,593 bet to show, which resulted in a minus show pool of $25,691.
