Hollywood: A perfect Premier Pegasus

Premier Pegasus remained unbeaten after three starts with a frontrunning win in the Grade 3 Hollywood Prevue Stakes over seven furlongs on Saturday.

The style of the win suggests that Premier Pegasus can run farther, as long as jockey Alonso Quinonez can coax the colt into settling early.

In the Jack Goodman Stakes over six furlongs here last month, Premier Pegasus cooperated with Quinonez, leading to a win by 1 3-4 lengths against a modest field. Saturday's race drew a tougher group, and Premier Pegasus was up to the challenge. He set a modest pace of 23.08 and 46.34 seconds, with horses racing to his inside, and then pulled clear by 2 1-2 lengths in early stretch.

Premier Pegasus won by 1 1-2 lengths over Industry Leader, who was making his first start against winners after a sharp maiden race win last month.

Industry Leader should benefit from this race. He was on the inside of Premier Pegasus after a quarter-mile, was shifted to the outside of the pacesetter on the backstretch and ran with interest through the stretch.
