Hollywood: Pedroza sweeps double

Email

Jockey Martin Pedroza swept the early double on Saturday's card, winning with two favorites - Warren's Blossom ($2.80) and War Pilot ($4.60).

Neither faced a serious challenge. Warren's Blossom won the first race, a starter allowance over six furlongs, by 1 1-4 lengths over The Great Atlantic, in 1:10.86.

In the second race, War Pilot had an ideal trip in a maiden race for 2-year-olds over 1 1-16 miles on turf, rallying from fifth in a field of eight to win by 1 3-4 lengths. The $2 double linking those winners returned $6.

In the third race, Maybe Yes ($8.20) rallied wide under jockey Corey Nakatani to win a $28,000 to $32,000 claimer over six furlongs, edging Canthavehim by a half-length. Track N Attack, the 7-5 favorite making his first start since June 2009, finished last. Track N Attack was near the front for the first half-mile, lugged out on the turn and faded from contention in the final furlong.
