Hollywood Park: Record trifecta in seventh

Fortunate Victory, winless in 29 starts, won for the first time in a lowly maiden claimer in Saturday's seventh race, triggering a record $1 trifecta payoff of $78,703. The previous mark of $35,563 was set in May 2007.

Fortunate Victory was 34-1, and was followed by 33-1 Outrageous Fortune and 42-1 Souvenir Summer.

Race favorite Casa O finished fifth, while Surprisefor Toulla, who attracted early support went off at 8-1 and finished 11th.

Trained by Jack Van Berg and ridden by Alonzo Quinonez, Fortunate Victory ($70.60) stormed home wide to win the seven-furlong race against 11 rivals. Fortunate Victory was fifth and seventh in two starts this year. Last fall he was third in four consecutive races.

Fortunate Victory won the second leg of a pick six that drew a pool of $154,456, which is rather low for a Saturday.
