Hollywood Park: First-timer wins easily


Oak Kye Why, a 3-year-old gelding by Whywhywhy, easily beat five rivals in a maiden claimer over 6 1-2 furlongs in Monday's first race.

Trained by Jim Cassidy and ridden by Victor Espinoza, Oak Kye Why ($25.40) was timed in 1:16.05, winning by 5 1-4 lengths over Koolnquick. Tuba Man , the even-money favorite, finished third, never making an impression.

Fourth-place finisher Uncle Greg was claimed by Jack Carava for $40,000. Uncle Greg is winless in seven starts.
