Hollywood Park: Cayambe finally gets through

Cayambe was held up in traffic on the rail until the final furlong, but found a way through in the final sixteenth to win Thursday's fifth race under jockey Joel Rosario. Cayambe ($21.60) ran six furlongs on turf in 1:09.12 for his second consecutive win. He won a $25,000 claimer on April 18, and was entered to be claimed for $62,500 in Thursday's optional claimer.

Cayambe, a 6-year-old gelding, is trained by Victor Garcia, and represented his first winner of the meeting with his eighth starter. He won Thursday's race by 1 1-4 lengths over Booted, who was part of an entry favored at 7-5.

There was an jockey's objection into the race. Martin Pedroza, who rode last-place finisher Get Funky, lodged an objection against third-place finisher Grace Upon Grace, who was ridden by Christian Santiago Reyes. The stewards disallowed the objection.
