Hollywood Park: Best bet + stumble = HTW

Preciado could have won race 8 at odds of 7-2. This much is certain.

But the second-time starter stumbled at the break, got rank while trailing the field, unleashed a big move on the far turn, then flattened out.

A California-bred maiden trained by Darrell Vienna, Preciado can win a similar turf route for California-bred maidens next time out. Can we get 7-2 again? Probably not.

Although he started as the third choice, Preciado was one of three horses not covered in the pick six. It was weird, because 45-1 outsider Bernsie's Baby was covered, and so was 23-1 Self Defense.

The race-8 winner was Cee's Closing Time ($7.60), a 12-start maiden ridden for the first time by Rafael Bejarano.

The pick six returned $29,922.80. The race-8 Super High Five, which started with a $45,872 carryover, returned $7,732.
