Hollywood: Oakcrest Drive pulls upset


Making his second start, Oakcrest Drive ($29.20) beat maidens in Sunday's sixth race, overshadowing the career debut of the highly-regarded Bob Baffert-trained colt The Factor.

Ridden by Alonso Quinonez, Oakcrest Drive ran 6 1-2 furlongs in 1:16.34, finishing 1 1-4 lengths in front of Pride of Silver. Eric the Ram was third, followed by The Factor, who was sent off as the 3-5 favorite and was beaten 3 1-4 lengths.

Quinonez had Oakcrest Drive well-placed, staking the pace of All Slews Star and Eric the Ram through early fractions of 23.11 and 47.06 seconds, and taking the leadin the final furlong. The Factor closed gorund wide through the final furlong and was running best at the finish.

Oakcrest Drive races for Norman Cheng and trainer Jim Cassidy. The colt, by Arch, had finished second by a length in his debut over 6 1-2 furlongs here on Oct. 9.
