Hollywood: Leaving it late

Primed rallied from last in a field of eight $25,000 claimers to win Friday's eighth race by a half-length over Candy's Pleasure.

Primed was as low as 4-5 in the betting in the minutes before post time but drifted up to a final price of 8-5 and paid $5.20. The 3-year-old filly won for the second time in her three-race career. Trained by Doug O'Neill, who did not attend the race while recovering from an appendectomy on Wednesday, Primed was the second favorite to win in Friday's pick six sequence. Primed ran six furlongs in 1:10.58.

Candy's Pleasure was the second runner-up finish in as many races for trainer Marcelo Polanco. In the seventh race, the Polanco-trained Pink Diamond was second to Reba Is Tops in the minor Raise Your Skirts Stakes for fillies and mares over six furlongs on turf.
