Hollywood: Joyzey Billy holds on

Joyzey Billy led throughout a maiden race over 4 1-2 furlongs for statebred 2-year-olds in Sunday's first race, holding off a late threat from Unhitchthetrailor to win by a nose.

Joyzey Billy ($30.40) was timed in 53.77 seconds, beating six rivals. The race was reduced by two starters following the morning scratch of Uncommon Sense and the post-time scratch of Deal 'em, who unseated jockey Paul Atkinson and briefly ran loose on the backstretch.

By Momentum, Joyzey Bill races for breeder Paul Reddam and is trained by Edward Freeman. Corey Nakatani had the mount.

Joyzey Bill won the first leg of a 50-cent pick five that drew a pool of $137,880.

In the second race, Meter Me Gone ($12.20) edged Millie N Marie in a $16,000 claimer over six furlongs. Roulette It Roll, who finished third in the field of seven, was claimed in a two-way shake by Steve Knapp.
