Hollywood: A Green Lantern double

Email

Green Lantern Stable swept the late double at Hollywood Park on Friday with two horses of varying abilities.

In the ninth race, Gypsy's Warning ($9.80) won the biggest race of her career in the Grade 1 Matriarch Stakes, closing from fifth in a field of seven fillies and mares to win the one-mile turf race by 1 1-4 lengths over pacesetter Wasted Tears. Gypsy's Warning made up 2 1-2 lengths in the final furlong to reach the front with time to spare.

Green Lantern co-owns Gypsy's Warning with the Team Valor International syndicate. Graham Motion trains Gypsy's Warning in Maryland.

In the last race, Green Lantern's Battle School ($3) won a maiden claimer over seven furlongs by a half-length over a determined Warren's Concept. Battle School had been beaten in his first eight starts, which included three third-place finishes.

The $2 double of those races returned $17.60.

Battle School was claimed for $25,000 by trainer Doug O'Neill.

There were three winning favorites in Friday's pick six, which returned $1,213.60.
