Hollywood: Game win from PVal

Jockey Patrick Valenzuela, who has gotten off to a slow start at the spring-summer meeting with one win in 24 mounts, scored a hard-fought victory on the first-time starter Free and Able ($5) in Sunday's first race.

After a slow start, Valenzuela had the 2-year-old Free and Able behind horses on the backstretch. With a three-wide move on the turn, Free and Able challenged leader Killer Graces and won by a nose, finishing 4 1-2 furlongs in 52.29 seconds. Free and Able, trained by co-owner Mike Harrington, was favored.

Valenzuela will miss action on Friday and Saturday. He is booked to ride Comma to the Top in the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs on Saturday.

Free and Able is by Swiss Yodeler, and was Harrington's second 2-year-old winner in as many days.
