Hollywood: Firewater in front

Indian Firewater may finally be growing up. After winning just once in his first 11 starts, and placing second or third in eight other races, Indian Firewater won his first stakes in Thursday's $58,900 Nashville Stakes for 3-year-olds over 7 1-2 furlongs.

Indian Firewater ($5) led throughout, holding off a late threat from Paris Vegas to win by a half-length in 1:29.65. Trainer Bob Baffert said that Indian Firewater could be considered for the $250,000 Malibu Stakes at Santa Anita on Dec. 26.

Paris Vegas is an interesting prospect. A stakes winner in France and stakes-placed in Austria earlier ths year, he has made four starts at four tracks in the United States, including a win in an optional claimer at Monmouth Park in September.
