Hollywood: Easy day for Garrett

Email

Jockey Garrett Gomez had one mount on Wednesday's program, and made the most of the day when Broken Dreams ($2.80) scored a sharp win in an optional claimer over six furlongs on turf.

Trained by Tom Proctor, Broken Dreams stalked Folk Dancer to early stretch and pulled away past the eighth pole to win by 2 1-2 lengths in 1:08.57.

Broken Dreams has won 3 of 7 starts for Glen Hill Farm. Proctor said the 4-year-old filly will be considered for the Monrovia Handicap on the hillside turf course at Santa Anita on Jan. 2.

Gomez said last weekend that he plans to ride sparingly in coming weeks, in advance of the start of the Santa Anita winter-spring meeting on Dec. 26. Thursday, Gomez does not ride. He has two mounts on Friday and four mounts on Saturday's nine-race program.
