Hollywood: A determined Donato

Donato and Willconker broke through the gate before the start of Saturday's fifth race, but the incident did not deter the two geldings who finished 1-2 in the $25,000 claimer over a mile on turf.

The start was delayed by about three minutes after the pair broke through the gate and then ran to the first turn before being pulled up. The rest of the field of 10 were unloaded and then all runners were put back in the gate when Donato and Willyconker arrived back at the start.

Donato ($12.40) led throughout and won by 1 1-2 lengths over Willyconker, as the fourth choice in the betting. Donato, a 4-year-old gedling by Broken Vow, was trained by Bob Baffert, but was claimed by Rafael Becerra.

The pick six has proven to be very tricky so far on Saturday. Siempre Esperanza ($76) won the first leg, and the $2 daily double ending with Donato returned $653.
