Hollywood: Canani doubles


Trainer Julio Canani won with his two starters on Thursday's opening night of the Oak Tree at Hollywood Park meeting, taking the first race with the outsider Summers at Delmar ($14.60) and the fourth race with favored Bad Boy ($5.20).

Bad Boy won a seven-furlong claimer for $10,000, closing from last in a field of eight to win by 1 3-4 lengths over Self Insured, a 9-2 shot. Bad Boy raced on the rail on the backstretch and turn and split horses in the final furlong, finishing in 1:23.51. Bad Boy, a 6-year-old gelding, has won 4 of 10 starts this year.

Bad Boy's win came in the first leg of a pick six that drew a pool of $153,949.

Self Insured was claimed by Dominic Fama.
