Hollywood: Bright future for this 'Lady'

American Lady won for the second time in three starts in Thursday's sixth race, easily beating five rivals in an allowance race over 6 1-2 furlongs.

Ridden by Martin Garcia, American Lady ($2.60) stalked the pace for the first half-mile, moved into contention with a four-wide move on the turn and galloped to the lead, winning by 2 1-2 lengths over Zenidekka in a hand-ride. American Lady was timed in 1:16.07. She was such a standout that she was considered a "free spot" in the pick six, essentially turning the bet into a pick five.

Purchased for $230,000 at the 2009 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, American Lady races for Kaleem Shah and is trained by Bob Baffert, who leads the standings at the current spring-summer meeting.

American Lady won her debut at Santa Anita on April 16 and was second as the even-money favorite behind the highly-regarded Rumor in an optional claimer over six furlongs on May 28.
