Hollywood: Bellini Bliss's breakthrough

Bellini Bliss had a breakthrough performance in Wednesday's seventh race, after a comprehensivve losses in her first three starts in this country.

The key was a drop in class. Instead of racing in an allowance race or optional claimer, Bellini Bliss dropped into a $40,000 claimer and rallied from off the pace to win the one-mile turf race for 3-year-old fillies by 2 3-4 lengths over Jana Gail.

Ridden by Joe Talamo, Bellini Bliss ($9.80) was timed in 1:35.84. The style of the win, and the way she galloped out strongly, suggests that Bellini Bliss can win another high-priced claiming race on turf in the future.

Bellini Bliss races for Jane and Burt Bacharach and trainer Carla Gaines. The filly has won 2 of 7 starts. Her previous win came in a maiden race at Gowran Park, Ireland, in April.
