Hollywood: Baze finishes 8th

Riding in Southern California for the first time since July, jockey Tyler Baze finished eighth aboard Southern Sugah in Thursday's third race at Hollywood Park.

Baze suffered facial injuries in a pre-race accident behind the gate at Del Mar last July. The recovery took longe than expected. Baze resumed exercising horses earlier this month at Turf Paradise and rode there on Monday.

Southern Sugah broke in the middle of the field but trailed through the stretch to finish well behind race winner Real Dream, who won the maiden claimer for 2-year-old fillies by a nose over Gogi. Real Dream ($5.60) was timed in 52.38 seconds. The third race was the first leg of a pick six that drew a disappointing pool of $96,300.

Baze has two further mounts on Thursday - Joyful Success in the sixth race and Krasavitsa in the eighth race.
