Hollywood: Another nose result

For the third consecutive race, there was a nose decision at the wire on Saturday.

After Sir Ed ($7.20) beat Magic Spirit in the third race, and Farley Star ($5) edged My Maloof Rocker in the fourth race, Atticus Jack ($11) was a nose better than Alley Hondro at the finish of the fifth race.

Atticus Jack ran a mile in a quick 1:32.90, not far from Monterey Jazz's 2009 track record of 1:32.59. Hollywood Park's turf course often produces fast times. Trained by Brian Koriner and ridden by Victor Espinoza, Atticus Jack ended a four-race losing streak, dating back to an optional claimer here in December, 2009. A 5-year-old gelding, Atticus Jack has made just 10 starts.

Atticus Jack won the last leg of a 50-cent pick 5 that paid $455. The pool reached $186,370. The winners of the first two legs were Stormy Linda ($6.80) and Pend Oreille ($10.20).
