Hollywood: American Story shines

American Story ($3.20) had little difficulty winning her second race around two turns in an optional claimer in the third race on Friday, the first leg of a pick six that drew a pool of $121,071.

Ridden by Martin Garcia, American Story was always near the front and won by 2 1-2 lengths over Crisis of Spirit, finishing 1 1-16 miles in 1:44.36. The first two finishers are trained by Bob Baffert. Nakoma finished third in the field of five.

American Story, 4, races for Kaleem Shah. A $400,000 purchase at the 2009 Fasig Tipton Florida Sale of 2-year-olds in-training, American Story has won 3 of 5 starts, with the seconds occuring in the Remington Park Oaks last fall and the Harry Henson Handicap at Sunland Park in March, her first start of 2011.
