Hollywood: Alcindor's slam dunk

Alcindor made short work of an allowance race over seven furlongs in Sunday's eighth race, disputing the pace before storming home to win by 7 1-2 lengths over Nextdoorneighbor in the quick time of 1:21.67.

What made the win by Alcindor ($4.60) all the more impressive was the style of the win, setting quick fractions of 22.22 and 44.15 seconds and running away from his rivals. Cee's Pryme, who led for the first half-mile, did not fare as well. He was eased and finished last.

Alcindor, 3, is unbeaten in two starts. Trained by Bob Baffert for Thoroughbreds Legends Racing Stable, Alcindor won his debut by a nose over six furlongs here on Oct. 23. By Unbridled's Song, Alcindor was purchased for $1.15 million at the 2008 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. He has earned $46,800.
