Hollywood: Achak opens pick 6

Achak, the 4-5 favorite, overcame a touch of traffic to win a $25,000 claimer over 1 1-16 miles, the first leg of Sunday's pick six.

Achak ($3.80) was timed in 1:43.95, and won by 1 3-4 lengths over Big Wags, who set the early pace. Achak was ridden by Joel Rosario, who had the 5-year-old gelding on the rail on the backstretch. Achak was shuffled to fifth in the field of six at the end of the backstretch when Rosario guided his mount to the outside. With a three-wide rally around the frontrunners, Achak quickly reached contention in early stretch.

Achak gave trainer Mike Mitchell and the Little Red Feather partnership their second winners of the day, preceded by Russian River in the second. Little Red Feather will be after a third when Saint Isabelle starts in the eighth race, the $70,000 Time to Leave Stakes for fillies and mares over five furlongs.

The pick six drew a pool of $188,598.

Job Boss, who finished fourth, was claimed in a two-way shake by Robertino Diodoro.
