Hollywood: 16-way shake for 'Creek'

Hunter Creek was claimed in a 16-way shake in Sunday's second race by Bob Hess, Sr. It was the fifth consecutive race in which Hunter Creek was claimed.

Unfortunately for his backers, Hunter Creek, the 9-5 favorite, did not extend his winning streak to five races, managing only a fifth-place finish in the $12,500 claimer over 1 1-16 miles. Hunter Creek had won his preceding four races, and was claimed in each start.

Hunter Creek, a 6-year-old gelding, was claimed for $6,250 and $5,000 at Golden Gate Fields in April, for $8,000 here in May and again for $10,000 here in June.

Sunday's second race was won by Gilligan ($5.80), who finished 2 1-4 lengths in front of Kingsville. Green Card James, who finished third, was claimed by Adam Kitchingman.
