HandiGambling Past Performances


Unfortunately, there is a ton going on in my world right now so I'll have to make this a very short blog post. 

As for the tentative blogging schedule for the rest of the week:

Wednesday:  HG analysis
Thursday:  Questions, Comments, A few past performance requests.

Then, break time for the holiday.


Congrats to Dale for finishing first in last week's HandiGambling exercise.  He selects tomorrow's eighth race at the Fair Grounds. 


Remember that you have a mythical $100 with which to wager on the race, and the entrant with the highest money total will receive a "Monthly Enhanced 60-Card Past Performance Plan." Anyone going over the $100 limit will be disqualified. Please post your plays and analysis to the blog. In the event of a tie, the earliest post gets first preference. One entry per person please. I reserve the right to approve or deny any entries.

I know that there is a time issue for some of you, but let's remember why we began the HandiGambling races in the first place. The goal was to share ideas on why we like these horses, and why we're betting them the way we are. I'm not asking for a novel, but if you could spare a sentence or two outlining your handicapping angles, and thought processes about wagering, it would be appreciated.

hg 215. lot to do today so no comments just bets. $86.00 win #4. $7.00 exacta 4-8 $1.00 tri box. 4-8-10. $1.00 super 4-8-10-2. Good luck to all and happy holidays.

HG 215: Eliminations from win contention: 1-Storm Osidy has a 6 for 104 trainer. No thanks. 3-Miracle Creek has 7% trainer and yet to win in 8 starts at mongrel tracks. 6-My Daddy Heir is firster for 8% trainer. Not likely. 7-South Ridge has 7% rider and never win trainer. 11-Dakota Comet is firster for trainer who is 1 for 30. Down to 6 entrants to consider for win position on ticket. 2-Gut Check has good connections and 3rd start off layoff. However, he loses ground in sprints. 4-Ordinary Time has top Beyers and good connections. However, 1st start at real track. Been racing at mongrel tracks. 5-Mattgetsnorespect has OK connections and excuse in sprint debut versus lesser. 8-Skymax has good 7F Beyer, but appears distance challenged. 9-Patrykus has marginal rider, but may have some late foot. Excuse in last verses lesser. 10-No Lip just missed at mongrel track in his last. Will take money. Shoot, DAVE K had to leave for the cities before I got his horse's profile up. Oh well, he'll have to try and find it when he gets back home. When the wife starts getting "testy", you'd better get going. LOL 38. Dave K: Your horse is RIBO BOBO. He is a bay gelding by Louis Quatorze, a son of Sovereign Dancer, out of Private Prom Party by Private Terms. He was born on 2/21/08. Your trainer is Manuel Azpurua. Nobody wanted Bobo at the Jan 2010 Ocala Breeders' Mixed Sale. Only $3K was offered for him and he did not meet his reserve. But, he turned out to be a gutty little guy and has since earned $127,406 in 6 starts, with 2 firsts and 2 seconds, including a 2nd in a graded stakes. Race Record: 8/13 CRC ran 4th in MDSP at 7F 8/28 CRC Broke Md at 6F by 5-1/4L 9/11 CRC ran 4th in Allow at 5-1/2F 9/25 CRC WON Foolish Pleasure Stks at 1 mile 70 yds 10/31 CD ran 2nd in GR3 Iroquois Stks at 1 mile to Astrology 11/13 CRC ran 2nd Jack Price Juvenile after being pinched back into the turn Not bad for a two-year-old that nobody wanted. #5 mattgetsnorespect had trouble and ran wide and still closed to finish 3rd in his debut. #10 no lip looks good and amoss should have him ready. so I will bet 30 to win and place on #5, and 20 exact box #5-#10

$100 win #2 GUT CHECK Had some decent works maybe he will put it all together today, good sprint/route Trainer.

I like # 10 No Lip who missed by a neck in latest facing open company and now dropping to state-breds. The colt is well-bred and should relish the extra distancewith Royal Strand as sire. This is second race after a 12 week layoff and trainer is 25% on that angle and 27% on first with trainer. #3 Miracle Creek may be the pace setter and he has moved forward since returning from break. I am concerned about the trainer and rider. #2 Gut Check offers real value if his odds are comparable to the morning line. This gelding has two outstanding dam-side siblings in Henry Street and Sunups and his siblings combined are 81 22-18-6 for $480,000. He has shown improvement but I do worry about the distance as Two Punch is a solid sire but his AWD is 6.4 furlongs. He has a strong trainer and an excellent rider. #4 Ordinary Time has run hot and cold. He has a top trainer with a high win % and huge ROI on his 2 year olds. #8 Sky Max should be fitter in this second race after a layoff. Dam-side siblings are a solid 36 9-5-2 for $183,000. #11 Dakota Comet is my wild card at likely long odds. His sire says he will like the distance and on the dam-side his 7 sibling have 29 wins for $517,000. #6 My Daddy Heir has same sire but no siblings. $50 to Win on #10 $ 5 Trifecta 10-3-2 $3 Trifecta 10-2-3 $3 Exacta 10 with 2,3,11,8 $1 Superfecta 10 with 2,3 with 2,3,4,11 with 2,3,4,6,11 $2 Trifecta 10 with 2,3 with 2,3,4,11
