GULFSTREAM: Will the rain hold off?

Email

It's a warm but gloomy day with the skies giving every indication there might be some rain arriving here before the end of the afternoon. Not a good propect with the afternoon's main event, the Grade 3 Orchid, carded for a turf course already rated less than firm.

The chalky, $9 Paco Lopez early double went down the drain in the second race when the 3-2 Fuencia failed to show up at all. Lopez had already won the opener with the odds on Kola Kola Ocean. Hammering Buckeye, exiting a game effort in his previous start, ran down the pace setting King Andrew to complete the early double for jockey Alan Garcia.

The scratches on the remainder of the card are as follows.
