Gulfstream: Two objections to start the day

Email

A pair of objections in the opener, no inquiry and while there was some minor interference in both instances the stewards let the result stand at is and probably rightly so. The objection most people were interested in was by Juan Leyva aboard second place finisher Balck Top Road against the unofficial winner, the 7-5 first time starter Evanderfield who did come out under left hand pressure by Kent Desormeaux to bump the runner-up briefly near the wire. But Leyva never stopped riding and the infraction was insufficient enough to make a change much to the relief of not only the chalkplayers but those of us who picked Evanderfield to win.

This race was a staggerfest from the top of the stretch to the wire with a final furlong in :14 and change and the rail once again looking like the deepest part of the track.
