Gulfstream: Dead Heat, Scratch Snafu

The fifth race ended in a dead heat with Grand Cash finishing on even terms with a dead game Exchanging Kisses. The big news, however, was the late scratch of Sr. Henry which was not announced until the horses were in the paddock.  Sr. Henry was arguably the stronger half of the entry and there was never any way this horse was going to start this afternoon since he had worked six furlongs in company with stablemate Mountain Town as reported in Daily Racing Form on Wednesday. Yet bettors were stuck with daily double, pick-3 and pick-4 tickets good only to Carson Hall once the late scratch was announced and he never was a factor finishing off the board in the fifth race.  IN some jurisdictions, Carson Hall might have run for purse money only.
